Australian government announced the original 457 visa, with a new 482 visa instead, but the details of what changes?
According to the Ministry of Immigration announced that the new measures from now on stage implementation, until March 2018 with full implementation.
The 457 short-term labor visa, which was implemented by the Government in 1965, was able to bring his family to Australia as a shortcut to becoming a permanent resident of Australia, with more than 650 occupations and some of the oversupply phenomenon, which became a controversial issue.
What changes are there?
Starting from March next year, the 457 visa will be replaced by 482 new visas, one for two years and one for four years.
Two years visa can be renewed for two years, but can not apply for permanent residence. A four-year visa can apply for permanent residence, but must be a high-tech person, a higher demand for English.
Both visas require at least two years of relevant work experience, the current 457 visa does not have this requirement.
Applicants need to undergo a more rigorous criminal record investigation, and the training program provided by the employer to the local employees is also required.
English Requirement
The new two-year visa requires 5 points for IELTS, with a minimum of 4.5 points for each item.
The new four-year visa requires 5 points for IELTS, with a minimum of 5 points for each item.
Change of permanent residence procedures
457 visa allows the holder to apply for permanent residence after two years, and now only four years of visa type of person can apply for permanent residence, must work in Australia three years before the application can be made.

According to the announcement, 457 visa applicants submitted on or before April 18, if their occupation is removed from the short-term technical occupation list, the applicant and the employer may apply for a refund to the Immigration Department.

Immigration said the policy shift does not affect the current licensees.
The Immigration Department will collect the Australian tax number of the 457 holder and compare it with the records of the Inland Revenue Department to ensure that the remuneration received by the holder is consistent with the employer’s guarantee.
The Department of Immigration will publish information on employers who violate the obligations.
