A telephone survey was conducted in December last year by the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, CUHK, to gauge public views on emigration from Hong Kong. However, it was found that 34% of the respondents intended to emigrate and 16.2% indicated that they have recently prepared for immigration; especially the younger generation (18-30 years old) has a higher willingness to migrate.
Recently, we were interviewed by the “Sky Post”, discussing with the tightening of immigration policies in developed countries, the European countries would be a new immigration route. Greece only needs to invest 250,000 euros (about 2.2 million HKD), whereas Portugal and Spain need 500,000 euros (about 4.4 million HKD), and almost no residency requirements. The threshold for immigration in European countries is relatively low, and applications are much easier.
